At the high school Politécnico Jesus Marin for several years we have been working with other schools throughout Europe to enrich ourselves with the experiences that we develop together. From that rich exchange of strategies and work methods we all benefit, teachers and students, and new projects of collaboration are constantly emerging from the shared projects. During the current course there are 14 educational institutions from different European countries that work alongside different departments of our high school and it’s a trend that grows year by year.

That post is a continuation of another published in this blog; both are created with vocation to serve as a guide for the members of other countries when they come to visit us in Malaga, though the places that offer a different point of view of our city. I would just like to say that simultaneously to the publication of entries in this blog, an exhibition is being held of the photographs in the hallways of the high school, to make known to the entire educational community the work accomplished. It’s evident that collaboration of different departments so that the publication of these articles could go ahead was necessary. The photographs have been taken during several weeks by Sherri Ann Beñasco Zaragoza, Carlos Domínguez Bonnemaison, Carolina Robles Sánchez and Daniel Chiaradona, students of the Image and Sound department, coordinated by the teacher Pedro Doña Martin. The translation into English has been handled by Sherri Ann Bañasco Zaragoza. The translation into French and Italian has been done by the teacher from the French department, Enriqueta Tijeras Lopez. Thank them from here for their dedication and effort, because their collaboration has meant extra labour to the work they usually do.
Terrace of the Larios Hotel (Room mate)
Location:Calle Marqués de Larios, 2 (5th floor)

Opening hours: From 18:00pm to 01:00am during the week, a little later during the weekend.
Best views of: The cathedral of Malaga and the calle Marques de Larios (Marque of Larios Street).
Description: Situated in a privileged location of Malaga, at the beginning of calle Larios (Larios Street), next to the plaza de la Constitucion (Constitution Square), it offers great views starting from the northeast, of the church of the Sagrado Corazon (Sacred Heart), the dome of the church of the Santo Cristo de la Salud (Saint Christ of Health), Gibralfaro, the Alcazaba, the cathedral of Malaga, and to the south, the Equitativa building. In the past they have only opened during the summer months, but when I went to visit it in November 2015, it was open. There was a friendly concierge there to attend the needs of the visitors. She told that this year they would keep it open if there was a high demand to visit it; so now you know, if you don’t want to catch it out of season, visit it from time to time.
As an improvable aspect: It’s not wheelchair accessible, as there is a section of stairs to get to the lift at the entrance of the establishment.
Chinitas Urban Hostel
Location:Pasaje de Chinitas 3 (3rd floor)
Best views of: The cathedral of Malaga
Open since: 15th of August of 2014
Opening hours: From 12:00am to 24:00pm during the week, a little later during the weekend.
Description: Totally accessible, situated to one side of the plaza de la Constitucion (Constitution Square), it’s right in the heart of the city. It has a peaceful terrace from which you can gain the best views over the cathedral of Malaga. It’s a terrace laid out over two heights and to gain the best views you have to go up to the higher one, on which one of the walls is covered in planters and plant pots to relieve visitors from the summer heat. It’s recommended to visit the terrace during dusk, to see the cathedral bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun, and when night falls, it stands out against the rest of the city with its lighting.
As an improvable aspect: The second terrace, higher than the first one, isn’t wheel chair accessible, you have to go up to it by the stairs.
Oasis Hostel Malaga (Rooftop Oasis Lounge)
Location:Calle San Telmo, 14 (4th floor)
Best views of: It offers unprecedented views of the dome of the church San Cristo de la Salud (Saint Christ of Health).
Open since: 2011
Opening hours: From 09:00 am to 14:00pm and 15:30pm to 24:00pm during the week, from Thursday to Saturday until 03:30am.
Description: Good accessibility, lots of young people from different countries visit this rooftop, which offers a multicultural atmosphere. Its maybe not one of the best rooftops to which gain access to the best views of the city, mainly because of its height, but it gives you a vision of the structure that the capital had around the sixteenth to seventeenth century. From here you can appreciate the back of the Museo Carmen Thyssen (Carmen Thyssen Museum), located in the Palacio de Villalon (Villalon Palace), also the side of the church of the Santos Martires (Holy Martyrs), as well as the already mentioned dome of the Santo Cristo de la Salud (Saint Christ of Health).
As an improvable aspect: We could say that beverage storages and ventilation columns still need to be installed on the terrace. By simply elevating the terrace more, something that the rooms which it ventilates will appreciate, and closing in a room the warehouse.
Sweet Dreams Boutique Hostel & Cafe Gallery
Location: Plaza de los Mártires 6 (3rd floor)
Best views of: The church of Santos Martires (Holy Martyrs).
Open since: April 2014
Opening hours: From 08:00am to 02:00am.
Description: The coffee shop can be found on the ground floor and from there you can take your drinks to the rooftop, as there isn’t a bar upstairs. Like many of the new hostels in the city, it’s aimed at young folks, in which people from all different nationalities stay. As I already commented in the Oasis Hostel of C/ San Telmo, Its not one of the best rooftops to which gain access to the best views of the city, but it gives you a vision of the structure that the capital had around the sixteenth to seventeenth century. From here you can see the side of the church of Santos Martires (Holy Martyrs), the north tower of the cathedral of Malaga, the already mentioned dome of Santo Cristo de la Salud (Saint Christ of Health), the back of the Museo Carmen Thyssen (Carmen Thyssen Museum), as well as the towers of the church of the Sagrado Corazón (Sacred Heart).

Terrace Hotel Salles Malaga Centre
Location: Calle Mármoles, 6 (6th foor)

Opening hours: From 12:00 am to 02:00 am. In the spring from 12:00 am to 20:00 pm, during the weekends until 24:00 pm.
Best views of: Barrio de la Trinidad (The Trinity neighbourhood) and the historic centre.
Description: After refurbishing the old building that housed the Merida Warehouses, the city now enjoys a terraced hotel on its rooftop, which offers a new perspective of the city’s historic centre. From east to west you can see Gibralfaro, the Alcazaba, church of the Sagrado Corazon (Sacred Heart), church of Santo Cristo de la Salud (Saint Christ of health), the Cathedral of Malaga, church of San Juan (Saint John), The Equitativa, the harbour cranes, part of the back of the church of Santo Domingo de Guzman (Saint Sunday of Guzman), next to the Puente de los Alemanes (Germans Bridge) over the Guadalmedina river, the post-office building, and to the southeast, the top of the Vertice (Vertex) building. At the bottom, crossing the Guadalmedina River, the tribuna de los pobres (tribune of the poor).
As an improvable aspect: The accessibility: from when you come out the lift on the 6thfloor, until you get to the terrace, you have to go up several steps.
Corte Ingles, Gourmet Experience
Location: Avenida de Andalucía 4 y 6 (6th floor)
Best views of: The cathedral of Malaga.
Open since: August 2015
Opening hours: From 10:00 am to 24:00 pm during the week, Sundays from 12:00am. On Fridays and Saturdays the terrace is open until 02:00am.
Description: Good accessibility, The Corte Ingles brings us its terrace project already successfully implemented in six other of its centres in different cities of the peninsula (Castellana, Goya, Callao and Ayala in Madrid, Alicante and Seville), it offers a selection of gastronomic products grouped into themes (tapas, dishes, cheeses, wines,...) so that the client can choose depending on his/her tastes, and buy to take-away or to go out on the terrace to consume them at the bar. It disposes of specialized cooking stands from various countries; Italy, Mexico and Spain are their main ones.
Soho Lounge Terrace
Hotel Soho Bahia Malaga
Location:Calle Somera, 8 (7th floor)

Opening hours: From 11:00 am to 02:00 am.
Best views of: The cathedral and The Equitativa building.
Description: The hotel is easy to find as it has a giant multicoloured graffitied Venus by Remed and Okuda on one of its walls, project from one of the Malaga Urban Art in the Soho festivals. From the terrace you can gain the best views of the malagueño Soho, to the northeast you can see the silhouettes of the Cathedral and The Equitativa building, as well as the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro.
As an improvable aspect: It’s not a 100% accessible, you have to go up some steps when you get out of the lift to get to the terrace and to gain access to this area at the entrance of the establishment.
